The database has been set
up as a requirement of the 1989 Children Act. It is a multi-agency
undertaking with parents, young people, carers, voluntary
organisations, Social Services, Education and Health.
Inclusion on the database
for families is voluntary and will not affect any entitlement
to services being received at present. The database includes
children with any disability from the age of 0 – 18yrs and
provides information for them and their families.
What are the benefits for children and
their families to be included on the database?
·
You will receive a Family Information Network
Directory, an A5 size ring binder with information on voluntary
and statutory agencies who provide a service for children
with disabilities. F.I.N.D.
·
A FREE regular colour newsletter, which
includes details from parents, young people, statutory and
voluntary organisations in Lancashire, direct to you door
each quarter.
The database is
·
Confidential – no information of any individual
entries will be revealed.
·
Reviewed periodically.
·
Used to produce aggregated reports which may
be requested by agencies for future planning purposes (which
does not identify individuals).
·
Used to assist with co-ordinating Service responses.
If you are or know of a family who would
benefit from being included on the database or alternatively
if you provide a service to children with disabilities and
their families and would like to find out more about the database
and its information services please do not hesitate to contact
the database.
