Early Childhood Intervention is a major element of the Government’s SEN Strategy, ‘Removing Barriers to Achievement’, through a variety of national and regional initiatives (e.g. Early Support Pilot Programme), there is, at long last, the opportunity to secure nationally co-ordinated strategy for E.I.

Through a series of short lecture inputs, workshops, reflections and discussions, participants will be able to examine current International/European thinking around Early Intervention.  Even more so, they will be able to hear the voice of families, as to their hopes and aspirations for high quality E.I.  There will be a specific input on the ‘Changing Patterns of Childhood Disability’, exploring new evidence in relation to pre-term infants, foetal alcohol syndrome etc. The future challenges for Early Intervention and the shaping of services will conclude the day.
