14. WellChild and their new Helpline

Jody Blake writes -

WellChild, the UK's only charity dedicated to promoting children’s health and wellbeing and fighting ALL childhood illnesses, has recently set up a new national helpline. This confidential service is for anyone of any age who is looking for information or advice about children’s health. It provides a trustworthy and approved starting point to sign-post callers to relevant advice groups, voluntary organisations and paediatric services and answers questions about any issue relating to ill health or healthy living. What sets this service apart from any other helpline is its broad scope. Trained staff can deal with enquiries about ANY ASPECT of children’s growth, development and health. We welcome enquiries from children, teenagers and young adults as well as parents, carers, relatives, health professionals or anyone who wants help with any question, health problem or difficulty they are dealing with, whatever their circumstances.

The helpline operates in conjunction with WellChild’s other support services which offer practical care and information to children and their families and carers. These include respite nurses and home volunteers and as WellChild’s award-winning website www.childrenfirstforhealth.co.uk, which also provides child friendly, age appropriate information about health.

You can contact the helpline between 10.00am – 4.00pm, Monday –Friday. Rather then pick up the phone, you can also email, text or write to us at any time.
