New video / DVD resource: An Introduction
to Challenging Behaviour
What is challenging behaviour? Why does it
happen? What can be done about it?
Using interviews with two parent carers, and
with specialist input from Peter McGill (Senior Lecturer in Learning
Disability at the University of Kent at Canterbury Tizard Centre),
this new 40 minute video / DVD gives a basic introduction to challenging
behaviour associated with severe learning disabilities.
The Challenging Behaviour Foundation aims to
make specialist knowledge relating to the care of individuals
with severe learning disabilities and challenging behaviour accessible
to all parents and carers who would benefit. The Challenging Behaviour
Foundation information pack has been widely welcomed and appreciated,
and a series of videos to complement the information pack is now
being planned.
The video/DVD ‘An Introduction to Challenging
Behaviour’ costs £30 (£15 to voluntary & community organisations)
plus £1.50 p&p. It is free to parents/unpaid carers.
Complementing the Challenging Behaviour Foundation
information sheet ‘basic information about challenging behaviour’,
written by Peter McGill, the video has been produced for parents
and carers of individuals with severe learning disabilities and
challenging behaviour, or for anyone wanting to understand what
it can be like for the families involved.
All proceeds from the sale of the video / DVD
will go towards helping families caring for individuals with severe
learning disabilities and challenging behaviour.
