5. The University of Manchester – Distance Learning Courses

COURSES AVAILABLE BY DISTANCE LEARNING IN PROFOUND LEARNING DISABILITY & MULTI-SENSORY IMPAIRMENT

Programme Aims

  • to support the professional development of people working with children and adults with complex learning needs who may also have sensory impairments
  • to empower course participants to advocate for people with profound and complex learning difficulties
  • to enable course participants to develop knowledge and understanding of key issues in the field

STUDY ROUTES

1. Undergraduate Programme - Certificate of Higher Education

  • 2 years part time study
  • Equivalent to first year of full-time undergraduate degree
  • Broad range of subject options
  • Open to mature students with relevant experience who may not have formal qualifications

P G Diploma (2yrs part time)
MSc. (3yrs part time/1 yr full time)

  • Entry requirements – first degree (any subject) or professional qualification
  • Broad range of subject options
  • Professional Portfolio (optional PG Diploma students only) provides an opportunity to focus on career related issues]
  • Additional (optional) study days in Year 3 for MSc. students on research and design
  • Year 3 (MSc. only) reduced fee
