This follows the original request in the Electronic Bulletin for information on support and alternatives to family visits within prisons. The North East Reducing Reoffending Strategy Forum is currently exploring innovative ways to improve family ties during custody. VONNE (Voluntary Organisations' Network North East) and the North East ICT Champion/Coordinator are developing a strategy for communication between prisons and the community, including alternative technologies for young, teenage and disabled children which may respond better to new mediums of communication.
