27. Who are Action For Kids? What do they offer?

Action For Kids is a small, national charity which supports disabled children, young people, their parents and carers.  Our mission is based on creating independence, providing opportunity and offering support. Our vision is a world where all disabled young people and their families receive the support and advice they need, when they need it, for as long as they need it.  We provide three main services:

§      Mobility Equipment Provision Service for children and young people aged 2 to 26 across the UK.  We provide a range of equipment including trikes, walkers, communications aids and sophisticated powered wheelchairs, we also offer a wheelchair maintenance and repair service.

§      Work Related Learning Services for young people aged 14 to 26.  We offer real work experience in a real office environment in 17 London boroughs and in Hertfordshire.

§      Family Support Services for disabled young people and their families.  We provide a confidential telephone, home visit and email helpline service across the UK offering guidance and support on disability related issues.
