is running a one day conference exploring solutions for self-directed
support. This event will focus on the practical approaches
to self-directed support including individual budgets.

The
day will support Providers, Commissioners, Care Managers and other
people connected with social care services to think through how
they will develop their roles and practices in line with the current
personalisation agenda. Ivan Lewis MP will address the conference
and detail how Government plans to promote self-directed support
as stated within the various recent policies, particularly Our
Health, Our Care, Our Say. This event will focus on the
practical approaches to self-directed support through interactive
workshops and presentations from expert speakers.

this conference you will find out more about how to improve systems,
culture and practices in order to be able to offer individualised
services and enable people who use services to have real choice
and control over the support they receive.

also be interactive workshops on the following subjects:

Resource Allocation System:
An explanation about the Resource Allocation System, how it works
and the basic thinking behind this way of allocating funding.
(ii)
Support Planning: A
fun, practical session looking at creative approaches to support
planning. Real stories and experiences will help to explore the
following questions:-

Why do
people need a support plan?

What goes
in it?
o
What it
can look like?
o
Who can
help?
(iii)
Providers Perspective:
Representatives from different Support Providers (large and small)
will share how they are tackling the challenge of individual budgets.
This session will look at how Providers can take steps to prepare
for the impact of individual budgets by building on the lessons
learned from the experiences of direct payments.
