I
am writing to all those around the world whom I know to be concerned
with Conductive Education, to let you know about a new development
in CE publishing.
At the end of this
new academic year Recent Advances in Conductive Education
will be going on line. Its contents will then be open and available
to all, free of charge. Most importantly, it will become a refereed
journal, the first in the field, putting Conductive Education
on equal footing with other professional practices and topics
of academic study.
The new journal
will be called RACE Online.
Considerably more information
is given on its website:
www.race-journal.org
It may seem a long
time till the first issue (June 2008) but there is plenty to do
in the meantime and a little help would be most welcome! We will
of course be looking for people to write articles and would be
very pleased to hear from you if you think that you would like
to.
Most people,
I know, will probably not wish to become authors. There are, however,
three practical things to do that would be very helpful.
1.
Help to
spread the word. Do please inform others, conductors, colleagues
(whatever their profession), service-users, researchers, friends
and critics of CE, indeed anyone whom you think ought to be interested.
Encourage people to look at the website and then themselves to
use the ‘Tell a friend’ button that they will find there. The
very existence of an academically refereed journal will lend credibility
to the field.
2.
Contribute
your comments and suggestions during this time of preparation
– and encourage others to do the same. You can use the ‘Write
to the editors’ link on the website, or contact me direct.
3.
Keep in
touch with news of RACE Online. You will see on
the website that there will be a free email news update. Please
register for this and encourage others to do the same.
Similar invitations
are being sent out to individuals and groups around the world
that I know to have an interest in Conductive Education. If there
are any individuals or institutions that you would like me to
contact direct in this manner, then do please let me know.
