10. Conference: Team Around the Child, from theory to practice:
issues and tensions in implementing the TAC approach

Hertfordshire Multi-Agency and Psychology Service are holding their 4th Annual Conference to discuss:

§ Establishing joined up support and inter-agency working

§ Working positively to implement change

§ Understanding stress in families - relating to professionals


This one day conference will feature 3 national keynote speakers:


Peter Limbrick: Independent consultant, writer and sibling, is known for his arguments for an urgent and radical reshaping of pre-school services for babies and children who require multiple interventions – to achieve well organised, effective, seamless, fair and accountable support for children and their families. Peter has developed the Team Around the Child system and contributed to Early Support. He is chair of the Handsel Trust which is working now on the problem of sleep deprivation in families of disabled children. Peter set up Interconnections in 1995 to offer independent consultancy to statutory and voluntary services. Dr Penny Lacey: Senior lecturer in Education, University of Birmingham. Penny has a background in teaching children and young people with severe, profound and complex learning difficulties. Her Research interests include learning and development of people with severe, profound and complex learning difficulties, and management issues in special education and adult learning disability services, particularly interagency work.

Dr Ann Edworthy: Chartered psychologist, associate fellow of British Psychological Society. Swansea Metropolitan University. Between 2003-5 undertook research into stress in parents with brain-damaged children, sponsored by Cerebra, and has looked into ways of supporting these parents as well as managing a telephone counselling service.
