Will
Slater, Media Officer, End Child Poverty writes -
The Campaign
to End Child Poverty is calling on people
to support the largest ever event to ‘Keep the Promise’ to end
child poverty in Trafalgar Square on October the 4th.
This is a historic opportunity to show politicians that child
poverty is no longer acceptable in the UK.
Without urgent
investment in the next year the promise to end child poverty is
at tremendous risk. The October event will mobilise public support
to make the biggest noise ever to persuade the Government to keep
its pledge to end child poverty.
Families
with a disabled child or adult are particularly
vulnerable to poverty, facing very many barriers (for example,
to employment) and having to bear the additional costs of childcare.
That’s why many disability organisations are signing up to ‘Keep
the Promise’ at this crucial time.
